Field EvaluationsIf you manufacture one-of-a-kind equipment, are relocating existing equipment to a new facility, or have purchased used equipment or equipment without proper certification, chances are you will need to comply with local electrical safety requirements.
Importing products from international markets can also be confusing and restrictive. OSHA requires that anything in the workplace that plugs into a main circuit must comply with appropriate product safety standards. The Canadian Provincial Regulatory Authorities require all items plugged into a main circuit comply with appropriate product safety standards. Some products that fall outside of this description may also require compliance. At TÜV SÜD Canada, we will work with you to develop an efficient plan for addressing your specific product safety needs. In most cases, where only a limited amount of units are imported, a service such as Special Inspection (SPI) for the Canadian market and a Field Evaluation (FE) is the most appropriate and cost effective. In many cases, manufacturers utilizing equipment in conflict with local electrical laws may be fined and/or shut down by OSHA or may not be allowed to energize their equipment by the local electrical inspectors.
