Crash Tests / Automotive Research and Development TÜV
SÜD Automotive specialists provide a range of support and engineering services
that help the international automotive industry develop better products
faster. The TÜV SÜD Automotive unit maintains over 20 accreditations
for all the world's main markets. The patented CRASHTEST, with which TÜV SÜD has made a name for itself worldwide, is carried out in our Munich/Allach facility, opened in 1996. A feature of the center is an ISO noise emissions test track. Operating around the clock, it allows noise emissions to be measured on over 1,000 vehicles per year. Vehicle data is measured remotely and transmitted back to the center for analysis. Flexible evaluation software produces results in a format to suit customers. For instance, electronically controlled vehicles (ECV) can simulate almost any type of collision. The test, which can be used to collect data on any specific aspect of passive restraint systems, was developed partly in conjunction with the German motoring magazine "Auto Motor Und Sport". The results provide an objective basis for comparing and evaluating passive restraint systems and can provide convincing arguments in clients' marketing strategies.
